Wassup my fellow producers? Just curious...if we are supposed to be battling beats, is it fair to say throwing whole 16 bar verses on the beat gives the producer an edge or is it violating protocol? What's yall take?

I agree with SBL. Adding an unreleased 16 could give an edge because it can define a vibe for a particular beat, however I think it should be categorized differently.

I think in this case it depends on the music. Did the artist carry the beat? It losses points IMO in a battle. Did the beat/production carry the track and/or was it all around great sounding? Added points for that. Was it you as an artist as well? Extra creativity points at the very least. So it depends but I don't see why it would be a protocol violation. Should be what we are all striving to do. Have finished music that sounds good. I think of it as inspiration! The violation would be... if an artist was in here with someone else's beat, battling. IMO

    So this is allowed?

@clark work If you’ve been voting and listening. John Pierre has been battling some of his stuff with artist on them.

At that point, it just turns into a comparison of song quality. I have plenty of unreleased and released tracks I've produce, mix master that would easily outperform most of what we'd hear, but I don't feel that would be a fair fight.

@DJLocZmyth For sure. I take my time listening and vote genuinely, it takes something truly special for me to drop a high rating on a 1–10

@djdlive I mean I’ll partake if everyone thinks it’s appropriate for a beat battle

They used to have song battles on rocbattle back in the day. Should bring that back. But for now, don't battle songs, just beats.

"BEAT" Battle... was the assignment... πŸ˜‚ All Love Though JP is solid! πŸ’―πŸ”₯
It's ALL in the preference of the audience on here either way.
But "Song" Battle or "Track" Battle should definitely be looked at as a viable feature on
here in the future. Just my 2 cents

Shout out to all you Producers on here in the community! Big Love & Respect! πŸ’―

Honestly? It's a blessing and a curse...sure it can boost a preference but it can also hurt you if I don't like how it came out...there's dudes literally playing vocals offbeat and nobody even listened to the actual beat because the shh was impossible to ignore...

@DLIVE I don't see the need for that. It's enough that at the moment until this grows bigger it's pretty much just us producers judging each other beats, which creates bias and behind the scenes clique-ups n shit. This battling component is dope but I'm mainly here to get artists to come to me and this platform to leave with the aim to make a dope song. I want placements and advancements, the cash prizes for battling sometimes is what destroy platforms like this when you start to forget why you're here. We keep gotta shit pure sometimes... just beats.

@donkody We need this kinda thing because of the exact reason you just stated. To inspire this! What you are suggesting? Collaboration! as of right now…. This is same as before! Only for producers! Artists get no credit for anything. Nor do they want to come on here. I know plenty but… can’t bring them in here because it doesn’t benefit them. Artists don’t buy beats anymore. They steal them or pull some TM shit so they can use them. If we want some kinda collaborative benefit. We need to stop judging this as a beat battle vs a song battle! Promote the songs that an artist can use or we get a dead end! Like every other version of this before! Teach each other to make music an artist can use! Not worthless music for a one time battle prize!

@DJLocZmyth Battling keeps people coming back to the site. It's an engagement driver. For me it is to see 1 stat. The one that I care about most, and that is MIX. Idc about winning battles, if someone gets dopamine by beating me, then I am their dope dealer. I only care if my mix sounds professional because I want to mix records professionally. But know this. Just like on the old site, you have cheaters, and grifters. They haven't gone away. A place like this is too good for them to pass up. There are coordinated buddy voting cartels, guys coordinating wire fraud for scamming their way through cash battles etc. Desperate people do desperate things. But I think the site is a great way to build community, and to get some ears to check out your music. Yeah I agree, I do not believe artists will come to the site as they can just have Suno make them a type beat, and they rap on that grainy ass shit and try to put an album out. But those artists never make it. Its the new version of a youtube rip. Hopefully networking with some of the pros here gets you in the door to do professional gigs, whether it be in music, film, or TV. Network is your net worth.

https://rocbattle.com/battle-rules Section 4.2 Anyone who violates ought to be disciplined. It's in the rules. The battle should be closed, the cheater is DQ'd by forfeit. Cheater takes a full loss, and rating penalty, and receives a strike. Multiple strikes should result in a ban, closing of their account, their record erased. We either have competitive integrity, or we don't. If not, and everyone looks the other way, then why not just upload full songs or AI and not tag it as AI, or even better upload full AI songs, battle them and go crazy? Rocbattle has a real opportunity right now to be one of the most dominant sites on the internet for music producers and artists like in its heyday. But these things need fixing now or expect this site to be a ghost town in less than a year.
